Why New Years Resolutions Don't Stick

Jan 06, 2020

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2020 - what I am calling The Year of Clarity. This is the year that together, we will get clear on what your core values are, what you are passionate about and what really lights you up. We will then align these critical elements with your business goals and help you make decisions to bring you results with fulfilment and purpose. Sound good?

Let's start with your New Year's resolutions. Here's the bad news - they usually don't work. What? On average, 64% of resolutions are abandoned by February. Why is that? Why do so many of us make resolutions that we can't keep?

In this week's vlog, I discuss the top 7 reasons why resolutions don't stick. But don't worry, it's not all bad news! I also give you 7 solutions to put in place that will enable you to turn the negatives around and make your resolutions last all year!

Here are some examples:

Problem 1: Most resolutions are based on what you "should" do, or what...

Happy Holidays!

Dec 23, 2019

So here we are  - it's holiday time!

After all the planning, preparation and shopping, the holidays are now upon us. Wether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah or something else, the time has now come to reap the benefits of all your hard work and enjoy yourself with your friends and family!

Hopefully the cards have now all been sent, the presents wrapped and the food bought. My fridge is just about bursting now - how is yours doing? All that now remains to do is spend time with your loved ones and take advantage of the special moments together that this time of year provides.

I wanted to take this opportunity firstly, to thank you all for the support and encouragement you have given me. It has been an exciting year for me with lots of achievements from award nominations and speaking events to becoming a published author and appearing in magazines, but none of it would have been possible without you. So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for helping to...

It's Canapé Time!

Dec 09, 2019

It's December and that means Party Time!  Woohoo!

I'm a really social person and I love parties, but at this time of year, I find that eating can be a real minefield. So many events to attend and so many delicious things on offer...

The big question is how to enjoy the holidays without overeating. No one wants to feel  unwell and overindulged, but it's a fine line to walk between overdoing it and having a great time!

In this week's vlog, I talk about how to tackle canapés at various occasions that crop up at this time of year. From setting an eating intention BEFORE you even go out, to detailing which canapés to avoid and to which you should say "yes please!" I have you covered.

For even more great tips on Christmas Eating, then check out this article on

GoodtoKnow from Woman's Own

where I am featured with more great tips including:

‘If the canapés are your dinner, however, you can eat more, but be conscious of how many you have...

Making Gratitude Part of Daily Life

Nov 27, 2019

According to Cicero, "Gratitude is not only the greatest of the virtues but the parent of all others."

While we all know that gratitude is beneficial, it is usually at this time of year, with Thanksgiving upon us, that we tend to take a moment to reflect on gratitude and what it might look like for us.

The benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. And gratitude doesn't need to be reserved only for momentous occasions: Sure, you might express gratitude after receiving a promotion at work, but you can also be thankful for something as simple as a good hair day.

It's also good to remember that gratitude is a year round thing.  It's true that Thanksgiving really brings it into focus, but I would...

Special Holiday Traditions

Nov 19, 2019

I know it may seem crazy talking about the holidays already, but Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas is only 5 weeks away!

As I was starting to get organised for the holiday season, I was reflecting on how much I'm looking forward to having down time with my family. If you guys are anything like me, then life can be very much go, go, go! Over the holidays is a special time when I really like to shut everything down and spend time enjoying. Enjoying time spent the most important support network of all - my family. Time spent being lazy. Time spent going on adventures. Most importantly, just time spent together.

As my children get older and increasingly independent, I see less and less of them and that is as it should be. I have raised them to be strong, independent individuals, and I am proud of the young adults they have become. That is one of the reasons I relish this special holiday time. It allows me to reconnect with my family and spend time with them.

In this video, I...

Cook Once - Eat Three Times

Nov 12, 2019

Do you ever get so busy running around trying to squeeze in a million and one things into your day that you schedule out your lunch? I used to do this all the time!

Instead of taking some time to eat something nutritious, delicious and sustaining, I was always trying to fit one more thing in:

  • Write one more post
  • Have one more quick call
  • Run a quick errand
  • Make a doctor’s appointment
  • Buy that thing on Amazon
  • Edit that email before it goes out

You know, the small things that you try to just squeeze in but end up taking much longer than you think. Sound familiar at all?

So what ended up happening? I ran out of time to make lunch and I was HUNGRY! I don’t know about you, but that makes me cranky. Because I invariably had other commitments I had to get to, I ended up grabbing something from the fridge or my cupboard on my way out. It was never something nutritious that would sustain me for the rest of the day, so I ended up reaching for a sugary something around...

Go beyond the salad

Nov 05, 2019

To survive in the modern world, it is super important to keep our energy up! In fact, Energy is one of the 5 Pillars of PowerSystem. When teaching this Pillar, I take my clients through the Limitless L.I.F.E. Energiser to teach them how to maximise their energy levels. Without a doubt, one of the best ways to do this is through eating a healthy diet.

Now, when you think about healthy eating, salads and green vegetables usually come to mind, right?  Today, I would like to encourage you to add a little more variety to your plan and to include root vegetables.

Roots like carrots, sweet potatoes, and turnips, are a rich source of nutritious complex carbohydrates. Instead of upsetting blood sugar levels like refined sweet foods do, they help regulate them.

It is seasonally also a great time of year to be eating these vegetables as the days get colder and we crave warmer and more filling options.

Why Eat More Root Vegetables?

Long roots – carrots,...

Isn’t fat bad for me?

Apr 19, 2018
Dietary fat: is it good or bad?
Both. You see, not all fats are created equal.

The Skinny on Fats

Heavily processed, hydrogenated “trans” fats used in prepared, packaged foods can be extremely damaging to the body. They can compromise the cardiovascular system, immune system, and contribute to behavior problems. They can also lead to weight gain, skin breakouts, high blood pressure, and liver strain.

That said, our bodies need fat for insulation, vitamin and mineral absorption, and to protect our organs. High-quality fats can steady our metabolism, keep hormone levels even, nourish our skin, hair, and nails, and provide lubrication to keep the body functioning fluidly.

Where to Find Healthy Fats
  • Avocados, olives, and coconuts are great sources of healthy fat, along with wild salmon and omega-3 rich organic eggs.
  • Whole nuts and seeds, and their butters like almond butter or tahini.
  • Look for the highest-quality organic oils when shopping. Words to look for: organic,...

The serving size secret you must know

Apr 19, 2018

Quick Quiz:
How many portions are in a bag of snack-size whole grain crackers? Or a small bottle of locally- pressed juice? Or a lunchbox pack of granola bars?

Hint:
It’s not “one.” Often, the above products contain two or two-and-a-half servings per package.

Can YOU Eat Just One?

Sure, you could go ahead and enjoy just half the bag, but are you really going to do that?
Don’t beat yourself up if the answer is no: If you place food in front of most people, they tend to eat it all. It’s just the way we’re wired.

The Perils of Supersizing

Eating too much food in one sitting is hard on your body. Here’s why:

  • Food is meant to be spread throughout the day. Overdosing on too much food at one time can cause a painful, upset, and sluggish digestion.

  • It releases a surge of glucose  into your blood. Your pancreas has to work overtime, pumping insulin through the body to absorb all that extra glucose. This...
